Xerox Aymara
Morphological Analyzer A prototype that was built using Xerox
Finite-State Technology by Ken Beesley. The system accepts Aymara words written
in the standard Alfabeto Único or Yapita orthographies and returns
morphological analyses and rough glosses in Spanish or English.
The current system is a very small research project, incomplete,
rough, and not even close to becoming a commercial system. The
dictionary contains only a few hundred root entries. The analyzer is based
mostly on information from the book Aymara: Compendio de estructura
fonologica y gramatical by M.J. Hardman, J. Vásquez and J.D. Yapita, La
Paz:ILCA, 1988.

The site of Marta J.
Hardman-Bautista She is an American linguist
considered a top researcher on Aymara. In the sixties she began its studies on
Jaqaru language, which belong to the same linguistical family than Aymara.
After that she founded the Aymara School at Florida. There she had
outstanding disciples, some of them native Aymara speakers, and where an
important amount of Aymara literature has been produced. Much of the data of
Aymara Uta was taken from such literature.

became a book, by Umberto Eco
discussing on a Perfect Language. Excerpts of this
Lecture about Aymara: ......"Recent studies have established Aymara is not
based on an Aristotelian
two-valued logic (either True or False), but on a three-valued
logic it is, therefore,
capable of expressing modal subtleties which other languages
can only capture through
complex circumlocutions" .......
