Aymara language

  1. Instituto de Lengua y Cultura Aymara (ILCA) This institute from La Paz is managed by the professors Juan de Dios Yapita, a native Bolivian aymarista, and Denise Y. Arnold. It has important publications on Aymara linguistics, among them Aymara: Compendio de Estructura Fonológica y Gramatical which is considered the "bible" of the Aymara grammar.
  2. Xerox Aymara Morphological Analyzer A prototype that was built using Xerox Finite-State Technology by Ken Beesley. The system accepts Aymara words written in the standard Alfabeto Único or Yapita orthographies and returns morphological analyses and rough glosses in Spanish or English. The current system is a very small research project, incomplete, rough, and not even close to becoming a commercial system. The dictionary contains only a few hundred root entries. The analyzer is based mostly on information from the book Aymara: Compendio de estructura fonologica y gramatical by M.J. Hardman, J. Vásquez and J.D. Yapita, La Paz:ILCA, 1988.
  3. The site of Marta J. Hardman-Bautista She is an American linguist considered a top researcher on Aymara. In the sixties she began its studies on Jaqaru language, which belong to the same linguistical family than Aymara. After that she founded the Aymara School at Florida. There she had outstanding disciples, some of them native Aymara speakers, and where an important amount of Aymara literature has been produced. Much of the data of Aymara Uta was taken from such literature.
