Hi,
I just thought you might like to know about the Aymara wikipedia at
http://ay.wikipedia.org/wiki/.
There aren't any articles yet, so it needs new contributors
because whoever was working on it before is no longer working on it.
All the text there is released under the GNU Free Documentation
license; you can edit any page, without even registering (although it
is recommended), etc.
Several examples of Wikipedias in different stages of development:
http://nv.wikipedia.org/ - first stages of development; Navajo language
http://kw.wikipedia.org/ - getting off the ground; Cornish language
http://ga.wikipedia.org/ - getting bigger; Irish language
http://nn.wikipedia.org/ - bigger still; Nynorsk language
http://lt.wikipedia.org/ - almost 1000 articles; Lithuanian language
http://lb.wikipedia.org/ - bigger still; Luxembourgish language
http://wa.wikipedia.org/ - nearing 5000 articles; Walon language
http://fi.wikipedia.org/ - nearing 10000 articles; Finnish language
http://he.wikipedia.org/ - just over 10000 articles; Hebrew language
http://da.wikipedia.org/ - just over 20000 articles; Danish language
http://es.wikipedia.org/ - just over 30000 articles; Spanish language
http://sv.wikipedia.org/ - just over 40000 articles; Swedish language
http://fr.wikipedia.org/ - almost 55000 articles; French language
http://ja.wikipedia.org/ - just over 75000 articles; Japanese language
http://de.wikipedia.org/ - almost 150000 articles; German language
http://en.wikipedia.org/ - almost 360000 articles; English language
It has been proven that all Wikipedias, in any language, follow
approximately the same growth pattern. If you asked people 2 years
ago, they would never expect the English version would have almost
360000 articles by now; if you asked the Japanese people they would
not expect it to have as much as it has, and so on.
The existance of a Wikipedia in a language is a huge boost to the
amount of information in that language accessible on the internet, and
for some languages Wikipedia is their first encyclopedic resource
*ever*.
I hope you'll consider the possibility of assisting the Aymara Wikipedia.
Best,
Mark Williamson
